1. For this project, I had to completely start from scratch. I had never written a cover letter or resume, so it was fairly difficult for me at the beginning. I consulted the textbook a few times, but I found it much easier to read about and research the proper format online. Using a few different websites I was able to create a rough outline for my resume, at which point I began to run through my life in my head to find important information that I thought a potential employer would find interesting and relevant. As I got deeper into writing my resume, I began to find that I was a little short in certain areas, mostly in prior work experience.
2. If I had more time on this project, I would have developed my cover letter more. For my first time writing a cover letter I think I did a good job, but good does not cut it for me. However, time constraints and a lack of experience have limited my ability to write an amazing cover letter. I also wish I could have found more information to put on my resume, as I feel my resume is rather lackluster.
3. The most valuable part of this project to me is that I now have a layout for a cover letter and resume for future use. Of course, I will have to edit it thoroughly before I use it for a real job, but it is nice to have a solid foundation to build on. Looking back at some of the things I have done in my life also gave me a sense of pride. I feel I do not often look back and appreciate what I have done in life, but my resume forced me to go back in time and find the things I am most proud of.
