1.) Obama discusses our changing world and economy throughout his speech. I’d like you to answer his call for action. Obama asks: “What would you change about the world?” I’d like you to consider and discuss in what ways your career, profession, or job can help to change the world. Be specific.
After reading President Obama’s State of the Union Address, there are many things in my profession that could help change the world. I am studying information technology, a field that not only can change, but make things operate a lot easier in the world today. As the world changes and more industries lean towards using computers and technology for more and more jobs, the information technology field becomes more important because people are needed to create programs and fix any problems that may occur. One thing that I would do to help change the world is to make a video device that would be compatible to a computer, cell phone, and a television. This device would be mainly used for people that are away from their families and allow them to communicate with them. Although there are many different programs and devices such as Skype, webcams and face-to-face on the iPhones, a device that is compatible with more devices would be more convenient. For those who do not have a cell phone that is a Smartphone or computer, their television could be sufficient to use the device. Of course there are technical ways to set up communications now without this device, but what I would like to create is something that is easy to set up, easy to use, compatible with just about any computer, phone or television, and inexpensive for those who can not afford to spend a fortune but would like to see their family. The problem with a lot of the technology now is that it isn’t obtainable for many people, either because of their financial standing or their lack of knowledge in technology. To create products that are affordable and easy to use would be a perfect way to change the world for the better, which is what I would like to do with my degree in Information Technology.
You propose an intersting device to help people come together via technological communication. I also like the point you make about technology and its expense. In what ways would you "create products that are affordable and easy to use"? How exactly would you go about doing this?
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good way of bringing families far away close together in a virtual way. Not only helping families, but also officials in the government that may need quick chatting across the world.
ReplyDeleteI would start by introducing a device with a program in it that would be affordable and easy to use for most adults. I would create a program that allows people to have video/voice conversations with family members that are away from home. I would put together a program that would link to any device that has a USB port that would allow when plugged in to download the program to that device. Then I would build/put together a handheld device that would be made from light and cheap materials so that it would not be expensive but affordable to buy. This device will be not only cheap but simple to use for those who don’t know how to operate a computer or smart phone. It will be an on/off switch, login screen, a search menu and a buddy list.
