Network Administration, Communication, and Our Nation's Economy.
As a Network Administrator it is hard to imagine changing the world. In fact, as any one person alone it is hard to imagine changing the world. As the President stated in his speech however, it is exactly this train of thought that needs to be changed. As the saying “every penny counts” can change ones financial outlook so can the saying “every person counts” change our nation’s infrastructure. So as a Network Administrator I would like to rise to that challenge and do my part to change not only our nation but possibly the world. With that said, communication is the backbone of our nation’s economy and without it we could no longer stand as the greatest nation. As we have seen lately in Egypt, communication is a powerful tool when used properly. As a Network Administrator it is my job to keep these communications up and running so that our nation can continue to work, talk, learn, etc. As a nation, we are constantly improving the ways we communicate. These improvements come in all shapes and sizes. Starting from fire and smoke signals, to the internet and Facebook™, we constantly continue to advance. These improvements come in stride as we fight to stay on top of not only the means of communication but the equally important technology to run them. This again is where my career comes in. The ability to manage and design an ever changing network of wires and hardware is the key to the success of this nation and the world. From transportation, to the military, to schools and homes, communication is everywhere. Not only through the internet but through television, radio, land lines, and cell phones communication is in everything we do. The challenge to manage all of these things is not only a challenge I accept but a challenge I look forward to tackling everyday from this day forth.

I believe this is a well thought out statement and I also believe communication is definetely a huge part in the goverment. You prove many good points about one not being able to just change the world. Time is also crucial in this process and would take years if not centuries to succesfully do. Very positive outlook none the less.
ReplyDeleteGreat outlook. Communication is very key, and I think you're selling yourself short on "As a Network Administrator it is hard to imagine changing the world".
ReplyDeleteYou may be a student now, but in 5 years you'll hopefully have a career and be working your way up.
In 10 years you may very well be the head of your own department.
In 15 years you may own your own company.
Like you said every ONE counts, and your points were well thought out and presented.
I agree 100%, advancements in communications is needed to help our nation and the world grow. It is used by everyone on a daily basis.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your statements about the possibility of moving up the corporate ladder. However, I did not mean for my statement "As a Network Administrator it is hard to imagine changing the world" to be taken as "I cant change the world". Simply I wanted to express the idea that changing the world from a single persons stand point is a hard thing to imagine. Also that it is very possible regardless of how impossible it seems.
@Andrew
ReplyDeleteYes, technology advances everyday and it is a struggle to keep up. That is the aspect of my career that I am most excited about. The ever changing world around me keeps the job exciting and fast paced.
@Jonathan
ReplyDeleteI think we, as a nation and as a world, progress faster in technology then you might have given credit to. I believe we progress at such a rapid pace it might even be our demise one day. While this day might be centuries off I think we are closer to new developments than many people think.
