1. Currenlty on project 1, I am working on revising and improving my cover letter. I have never created a cover letter before, so my current draft is very rough and needs a lot of work.
2. I have never written a cover letter before, so I am having some difficulty with keeping things concise and direct while still putting enough information to get my point across. I also find myself second-guessing my choices for what I put in my cover letter and what I leave out. It is also tough to find characteristics that will stand out to an employer, because just about everyone is a “strong team player” or has a good “eye for detail” or something generic like that.
Derek,
ReplyDeleteYour concerns about a cover letter seem valid. I think when it comes to putting your best foot forward career wise we all second guess ourselves. But in that moment I want you to assume the role of employer. In other words, if you were the employer what would you look for in a letter? What would you want to hear? In addition you might want to reach out to professionals in your field to see what advice they might offer.
