Technology and the Future of the World
I feel my career path in information technology will have a very big impact on the future of the world. As businesses expand, so too does their need for technology. Technology is useful in so many areas that its value is almost immeasureable. If it was up to me, I would make sure that technology continues to develop and grow at an effective rate and is used for important purposes. When people think of technology, they often think of things like Playstations, the newest smart phone, or a fancy television. However, I like to dream of technology for more practical purposes. I see an accounting firm using computer programs to perform sophisticated equations with perfect precision, or the military being able to communicate with troops across the world without having to worry about losing the connection. When it comes to equations involving money, there is very often a very small percentage lost, as the computers are only capable of computing values to a certain length. While it may not be a significant amount from a single transaction, imagine the number of transactions performed daily, and the number will start to become significant. While there are methods to catch this small percentage before it is lost, and store the data away for later use, computers will one day be able to calculate equations with greater accuracy and speed, reducing the potential for damage and losses while increasing the number of transactions performed. This is just one example of how the future of technology can make the world easier for those who embrace it. We need to continue to work on improving the speed and accuracy of computers, so that eventually the world will not have to worry about computers being wrong. Of course, there is always the potential for human error, but I believe we must continue to move technology forward until we reach the point where the only error is human error. The greatest part about computers and the development of technology is that the potential is nearly limitless. In my eyes, technology will stop evolving once the imagination of the people stops.
