First and foremost the state of the union speech was very powerful and heart felt. Every day I am privileged to see how the power of technology can accelerate change and help to solve some of our society's most pressing issues. Technology is a key tool for social and economic development. It can help people get a better education, learn new skills to earn a living wage, or start a business. It also can enable organizations, to better meet community needs. Many nonprofits already embrace technology, improving their productivity and easing their constant struggle to do more with less. I believe technology have potential to do much more, it has the potential to achieve dramatically greater impact through new business and service models. The world is already changing; people all over the globe can now work and communicate together in ways that were never before possible in history. Information technology such as e-mail, instant messaging, the Internet, and video conferencing has completely changed the way humans communicate over time and space. Every day we hear about blogs, wiki’s, chat rooms, on-line data bases and discussion groups. In response to Obama’s call for action, I would change the world with my career as an Information technician by developing software that enables us to gather and manipulate large amounts of information faster and more accurately than ever. Society uses software for this purpose and I hope to maintain and improve upon it through my educational and professional experiences. I will also like to change the world by improving technology that will help improve the way we conduct business and live our lives. These are not the latest crop of gadgets and gizmos: it will be completely new technology that will help transform computing, medicine, manufacturing, transportation, and our energy infrastructure. Nurturing the people and the culture needed to make the birth of such technology ideas possible.
Afisi you mention that you want to develop technology that can "gather and manipulate large amounts of information faster and more accurately than ever". Could you explain what kind of benefits this would have for society, the world or our immediate lives.
ReplyDeleteHaving technology that can process large amounts of information faster can be very helpful for businesses in terms of the company making more money and helping customers alot faster. For example take Google for instance they need extremely fast internet and good servers to be able to assist customers when searching the web for answers. Billions of people use google everyday. This technology already exist but I would love to help further improve it for the future
